Credit packs are now for Plus and Pro
- One-time credit packs now top up Plus and Pro plans only. A pack only ever added credits, never a plan's features, and on Starter the smaller pack cost the same as a month of Plus, which comes with those credits every month plus Anchor Mode, model choice and more newsletters.
- On Starter, Settings > Subscription now shows the Plus offer where the packs used to be, and the out-of-credits messages say "Upgrade" instead of "Top up".
- Credits you already bought stay in your reserve and keep working on any plan.
- Reserve credits (credit packs, sign-up and referral bonuses) stay valid for a year from the day they're added, as the pricing page says. The oldest are used first. Settings > Usage shows when the next ones expire, and we email you about a month before.
Start tracking from any tracker
- "Start tracking for free" on every tracker page takes you to a sign-up page with that tracker beside the form: an outbreak's latest events, or a board's numbers.
- Once you've signed up (or logged in), the alert for that tracker opens already filled in, for example "Tell me when Ebola reaches a new country or its weekly cases rise again." Adjust it and create it in one step. From the Macroboard, it's a Monday economy brief instead.
- The sign-up and log-in pages have a new look, in line with the home page, with what readers say about Avos beside them.
Economic indicators in your sections and alerts
- New: alerts on US economic data. Set a price alert on an indicator, such as "Inflation comes in above 4.5%" or "the yield curve goes below 0", and you hear about it when a new reading crosses your level. Choose "Economic indicator" in the alert form, or just describe it.
- The indicators you can alert on are the Fed funds rate, the 2- and 10-year Treasury yields, the yield curve, inflation, unemployment, jobs added, GDP growth, retail sales and durable goods, read exactly as the Macroboard (avos.news/economic-indicators) shows them.
- Fixed: economic indicators added to a financial section now appear in the newsletter you receive. Before, they showed in the preview but were left out of the sent issue.
- Indicators in sections are now the twelve US figures on the Macroboard, measured the same way: the Fed funds rate, Treasury yields and the yield curve, inflation, oil, unemployment, jobs added, GDP growth, retail sales, durable goods and the national debt.
- Each one shows the period it is for and how it moved since the reading before, in its own terms: a rate's change in points, jobs in thousands, the debt in dollars.
Crypto, stocks and the economy on split-flap boards
- Three new free trackers, drawn as an old split-flap station board: the Cryptoboard (avos.news/crypto-tracker), the Stockboard (avos.news/stock-tracker) and the Macroboard (avos.news/economic-indicators).
- The Cryptoboard lists the top 100 coins by market cap from CoinGecko, with prices every minute, the day's gainers and losers, and what's trending.
- The Stockboard lists the 100 largest US-listed companies, with prices as of the last close, the day's gainers and losers, the most traded, and the S&P 500, Nasdaq 100 and Dow.
- The Macroboard shows the US economy's key numbers: rates, inflation, oil, jobs, growth and the national debt (from the Treasury's Debt to the Penny, every business day), with ten years of history each.
- Each board ends with the other two, so you can move between them.
- Click any row for its price history, and turn any coin or stock into an Avos alert: an email when it crosses your line or moves a set share in a day.
El Niño, week by week
- A new free tracker follows El Niño week by week from NOAA (avos.news/el-nino-tracker): its alert status, its strength on NOAA's official index against the 1982-83 record, NOAA's forecast and its chance of a record.
- See how this El Niño compares with 1982-83, 1997-98, 2015-16 and 2023-24, and why headlines quote a bigger number than NOAA's official index.
- Where it hits: reefs under heat stress on a live globe, El Niño's usual effects region by region, daily global air and sea temperatures, and the crop prices El Niño tends to move.
- In all seven languages, and on avos.news/trackers alongside the market boards and the outbreak trackers.
Live outbreak trackers
- New free trackers at avos.news/trackers. The Outbreak Tracker puts Ebola, plague, bird flu, mpox, cholera and measles on a live globe, with a page for each outbreak.
- Each page shows the hotspots and their figures, the trend, a timeline of what changed with its sources, and how the disease spreads.
- Avos refreshes the trackers every six hours from WHO outbreak news, ECDC and trusted health and news outlets, in all seven languages.
- Want to know the moment something changes? Build your own tracker: an Avos alert emails you when an outbreak reaches a new country or its numbers jump.
Open to everyone, and a new home page
- Avos is open to everyone: sign up for free, no invite or waitlist. An invite code, if you have one, still adds bonus credits.
- A new home page, in all seven languages, shows how Avos builds your briefing, from the sentence you type to the issue in your inbox.
- Play the noise game on the home page: beat the target score to unlock a bonus code for extra credits when you sign up. The terms are on the Legal page.
- Questions while you look around? The "Ask AI" button in the FAQ opens the support chat.
Follow YouTube channels
- A News section or an alert can now follow a YouTube channel. Add its @handle or paste the channel's link in the section's feeds, or ask the editor to add it.
- The feed shows the channel's name and subscriber count as you add it, so you can tell you picked the right one.
- Each new video is summarized from its description, so your briefing tells you what the video covers. Shorts without a description are skipped.
- Following a channel is free, like an RSS feed.
Follow X accounts, Reddit is back, and no repeated stories
- A News section or an alert can now follow an X (formerly Twitter) account. Add its handle in the section's feeds, or ask the editor to add it. When a post shares an article, your briefing summarizes the article itself. Like AI search, an X account costs a little extra each time it runs.
- In alerts, X accounts are checked on the same slower schedule as web and AI searches, and the alerts chat asks before adding one to an alert that's running. If you choose to check them every hour, you'll see how many credits that uses first. A read that fails is never charged.
- Reddit is back: curated sources that include a subreddit, like Technology, Science and World, bring in its top posts again.
- The same story no longer shows up twice in one issue. A section whose stories all ran earlier in the issue is left out.
- A section whose article page is unusually large no longer fails to build.
- Feed search leaves out feeds that have stopped working, and more RSS feeds are read correctly.
- The support chat knows your newsletters' schedules and sources, so it can tell you when the next issue goes out and list everything you follow. It also knows what's new in Avos.
- Chat replies no longer show stray codes like "citeturn0…" when the assistant has searched the web.
Anchor Mode on iPhone Safari, and tidier greetings
- Anchor Mode now works in Safari on iPhone.
- A text section, like the greeting at the top of your briefing, no longer leaves an extra gap before the next section. The fix applies on the web, in the app and in the email.
Clearer alert emails and more feeds per section
- News alerts no longer repeat a story they already reported from another outlet.
- Every alert email has its own subject line: the lead headline, plus the date for digests. Gmail stops bundling your alerts into one thread.
- On paid plans a section can read up to 10 feeds; on Starter, up to 5. If you downgrade, your sections keep the feeds they already have.
- Building a section can now take up to 5 minutes, so heavier sections finish instead of timing out.
- Each newsletter keeps its own icon color.
- The Avos seal and footer logo show correctly in Gmail on iPhone.
Tones you can hear, and rankings that keep every story
- Casual, friendly and humorous tones now shape the headlines too, not only the summaries.
- A "top stories" filter now ranks the stories and shows you the best ones, instead of dropping the ones it was unsure about.
- Failed work is never charged. If a chat turn ends in an error, a section comes back unusable or an alert check fails, it costs you no credits.
AI search feeds, quiet sections, and editor requests that finish
- A section can use AI search as one of its feeds: an agent searches the web for your topic every time the issue is built.
- Quiet sections: when nothing new happened in a section's time window, your issue says so instead of padding it with old news. In the editor you can choose to look back 30 days.
- Long requests in the editor now wrap up on time instead of stalling. If the agent runs out of time, a Continue button picks up where it stopped, and your message is saved the moment you send it.
Price alerts that repeat, an alerts chat, and combined alerts
- Price alerts can fire once, or every time the price crosses your level.
- Create and edit an alert by chatting, the same way you build a newsletter. The form is still there if you prefer it.
- Combined alerts mix news conditions with price triggers, and fire when all or any of them match.
- A price level far from today's price now gets a warning before you save it.
Alerts: hear about it the moment something matches
New: Alerts. Point them at news topics or the feeds you trust, describe what you're waiting for, and Avos emails you when a new story matches. News monitoring has the details.
- Price alerts on stocks and crypto, from the same place. More on price alerts.
- Choose how you hear about it: instantly, in a daily digest or in a weekly one.
Avos News in Bahasa Indonesia
- The site, the app and the emails we send are now available in Bahasa Indonesia, our seventh language.
- Prices on the pricing page can show in Indonesian rupiah.
A directory of vetted RSS feeds
- Search a directory of vetted RSS feeds when you build a section, or ask the editor to find the right feed for you.
Newsletter themes
- Pick a theme for your newsletter in its settings, or describe the look you want to the editor and it designs a custom theme for you.
- Your theme applies everywhere you read your briefing, including the email.
Six templates with live sample issues
- Start from a template: The Daily Brief; Tech, AI & Business; Markets & Investing; Crypto; War & Conflict; or Science & Health.
- Each template shows a real, recent issue, so you can read one before you use it.
Avos News speaks six languages
- The site, the app and the emails we send are available in English, German, Spanish, French, Polish and Greek.
- Your briefing itself can be written in any of around 50 languages, and Anchor Mode speaks your newsletter's language.
