4,410 US cases in 2026, up 330 in a week. Pennsylvania reports 1,260 cases.

The United States has 4,410 measles cases this year, including 451 hospitalizations. There have been 42 new outbreaks, and 96% of cases were in people who were unvaccinated or had unknown vaccination status.

Pennsylvania has reported 1,260 cases and six deaths, while Ohio has 252 cases and Kentucky 170. Malawi has recorded more than 1,800 cases and ran a measles-rubella vaccination campaign from September 21 to 25.

Pathogen: Measles virus
Spreads by: The air. One of the most contagious diseases known.
Incubation: 7 to 21 days.
Signs: High fever, cough, red eyes, then a rash from the face down.
Vaccine: Two MMR doses are 97% effective.

How it spreads

A model updates every figure, place and date in a fixed form, only from what the sources say, and keeps the link to where it came from.

New figures are compared with the last report. A figure that jumps or falls without explanation is held back and the last checked one stays.
